#TIGERSWIN: ETBU Upsets #1 UT-Tyler

ASC TOURNAMENT: TYLER, Texas (4/30/16) – With a dominant pitching performance, incredible hitting, and outstanding defense, the East Texas Baptist University softball team (33-8) upset #1 Texas-Tyler, 6-1, to advance to the American Southwest Conference championship. This win not only ended a 33-game-winning streak for UTT as well as it gave them their first loss at home all season. This will be the fourth year in a row that ETBU will be playing for an ASC championship winning it last in 2013.

ETBU Students Serve Others in Mississippi

MARSHALL, Texas (4/25/16) – “I felt like God had called me to spend my time serving over spring break,” is what Taylor Turley said about why he went to serve.  Stevi Slaughter said the reason why she gave up her time to serve was, “I wanted to give someone something that they deserved and could not do for themselves.”

ETBU Students Help Provide Clean Water in Belize

MARSHALL, Texas (4/21/16) – A team of nine students from East Texas Baptist University spent their spring break in Belize ministering in partnership with Hope Springs Water. The Athens, Texas based ministry has a mission to provide safe water, sanitation, and public health education to developing countries. 

“The purpose of the trip was to fix wells in villages so that people who live there could have clean water,” said sophomore Nycole Renfrow of Nederland.

ETBU Not Required To Offer Contraceptives With SCOTUS Proposal

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER: MARSHALL, Texas (4/14/16) -  East Texas Baptist University would not be required to offer controversial contraceptive coverage in its self-insured employee insurance plan, according to a March 29 proposal from the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, which represents the university, responded to the court's proposal on Tuesday with a resounding "yes."
