ETBU unveils 100-year-old items from Marshall building cornerstone capsule

As East Texas Baptist University celebrated its annual Founder's Day celebration on Saturday, the University also offered up several items from a recently discovered 100-year-old time capsule in the Marshall Hall building's cornerstone.

The cornerstone capsule contained several items dating from 1916 when the University's Marshall Hall building was constructed.

Sgt. Shirey Returns to ETBU to Sing With “Singing Sergeants” and USAF Band

MARSHALL, Texas (4/11/16) – When a young man or woman enlists to serve in any branch of the United States military service there is an expectancy one will experience a life that is challenging and exciting as they serve. For East Texas Baptist University alum and United States Air Force Technical Sgt., Hannah Rigg Shirey that has been true as she serves with the Singing Sergeants.

USAF Concert Band & Singing Sergeants In Concert at ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas (3/23/16) - The United States Air Force Concert Band and Singing Sergeants from Washington, D.C. are heading to the campus of East Texas Baptist University for a concert on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. The free public concert is sponsored by ETBU and the Marshall News Messenger and will begin at 7:00 p.m. in Baker Auditorium of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center on campus. 

Mezzo soprano vocalist Technical Sgt. Hannah Shirey is excited to be returning to her home state of Texas as well as her alma mater.

The Sam B. Hall Dinner & Lecture on March 22 at ETBU

MARSHALL, Texas (3/15/16) – The 2016 Sam B. Hall Jr. Dinner and Lecture will be held on Tuesday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. in the Woods and Cornish Great Rooms on the second floor of the Ornelas Student Center at East Texas Baptist University. A reception will precede the program at 6:30 p.m. 
 
The lecture series program commemorates the late United States Representative and United States District Court Judge Sam B. Hall, Jr., who was a Marshall native and an alumnus of the College of Marshall, ETBU's forerunner.
