ETBU students recognized for being ‘outstanding’ at national UN conference

Nine East Texas Baptist University students along with Political Science Professor Dr. Israel Nandamudi traveled to compete at the American Model United Nations (AMUN) Conference held in Chicago, November 19-23. The team won the prestigious "Outstanding Delegation Award" for the second year in a row.

"Our group was proactive and efficient in everything that we did," Head Delegate senior Sara Corley said. "We were quick to seek information and confident in the speeches we gave."

ETBU celebrates increase in student enrollment

East Texas Baptist University achieved their highest enrollment in over a decade. The Fall 2016 enrollment stands at 1,456 students, 148 students ahead of Fall 2015, an 11.2 percent increase. This figure of 1,456 students represents the University's highest total enrollment since 2002 when there were 1,496 students enrolled. This semester is the third highest enrollment in institution history.

ETBU Awards 149 Degrees During Spring Commencement

MARSHALL, Texas (5/11/16) – East Texas Baptist University held Spring Commencement in two sessions on Saturday, May 2, 2015 in Baker Chapel of the Ornelas Spiritual Life Center.  ETBU President Dr. J. Blair Blackburn presided over the ceremonies. A total of 149 students received degrees, 132 bachelor’s degrees and 17 master’s degrees.

ETBU Graduates Say They've Grown Spiritually While Learning

MARSHALL NEWS MESSENGER (5/8/16) - East Texas Baptist University graduate Hoyce Mitchell said Saturday that he will always be thankful for his time at the Marshall university where he honed his basketball skills, earned an education and grew in his walk with God.

"ETBU helped me grow as a person, spiritually, physically and emotionally," Mitchell said Saturday. "Earning my degree makes me feel good because that's one more accomplishment, one more step in my life."

Mitchell now hopes to move on to the pro-basketball circuit, starting overseas first.
