Throughout the month of February, the Office of Multicultural Affairs at East Texas Baptist University is honoring the rich contributions of African Americans to our communities, culture, and country by hosting Black History Month (BHM) events on the ETBU campus.

As the busyness of the spring semester picks up, East Texas Baptist University held its annual Spiritual Renewal activities on campus with worship services and through prayer and reflection with the extended ETBU family the week of February 21. This year’s theme, “Still,” was inspired by Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"

Three faculty at East Texas Baptist University recently received promotions, including Eric Hillman (Associate Professor of Criminal Justice), Dr. David Splawn (Professor of English), and John Dement (Professor of Theatre Arts). These promotions mark a proud moment for the ETBU community as students, faculty, and staff have witnessed these individuals make a significant impact on campus and in the classroom.

East Texas Baptist University’s School of Nursing has officially been renamed the Teague School of Nursing in recognition of two nurses who left a great impact on the people they cared for, and in honor of the lifetime of outstanding and generous support of ETBU alumnus Dr. Jim Teague (’68). This marks East Texas Baptist’s first school to be named after females, and the third academic school out of eight to hold a namesake at the University.

East Texas Baptist University’s Spring 2022 enrollment has set yet another milestone record with 1,495 new and returning Tigers enrolled for classes in January 2022. This new spring enrollment record features a 1.1% increase over last year’s record spring enrollment as the highest in University history.
